OK, so who am I?
Vania J. Arroyo is a professional photographer and makeup artist with over a decade of experience in both industries. In 2021, she opened up her own photography studio in Lynn, MA, with a focus on providing services and teaching both makeup and photography classes. Vania is not just a photographer capturing moments; she is a visual storyteller with a passion for igniting social change. Born and raised in the vibrant streets of Boston, MA, Vania’s lens has always been drawn to the raw realities of the human experience.
In 2019, Vania’s desire to create change led to her vlogging about Black and Brown culture in Boston via her photography. The project was received well by the community and led to her creating a social impact organization called BlackBrownBoston in 2023. Vania is deeply involved in grassroots movements, using her BlackBrownBoston platform to raise awareness and mobilize support for causes close to her heart.
In November of 2022, Vania was one of three recipients for the Community Artist Award presented by UMASS Boston during their annual “Black Lives Matter Day” celebration. Although it was an honor, for Vania, the true measure of success lies not in awards or recognition, but in the impact she is able to make in the world around her. Through her art and activism, Vania is working tirelessly to create a world where everyone's story is heard, valued, and respected.
